Hoffman Scholars begin a year of exploration and engagement

The second year of the Hoffman Honors Scholars program (HHS) is in full swing. This fall, University of Cincinnati faculty and staff welcomed 22 new students as the second cohort of the Hoffman Honors Scholars program (HHS). Students from UC’s College of Arts and Sciences, College-Conservatory of Music and the Carl H. Lindner College of Business are provided tuition, room and board and a plethora of community tools and skill-training.

UC co-op advances in rankings

For the seventh consecutive year, the University of Cincinnati has ranked in the Top 5 for co-ops and internships in U.S. News & World Report’s 2026 Best Colleges Rankings. UC’s cooperative education program has climbed to the No. 4 spot, up from No. 5 in the rankings last year.

Business student finds UC experience to be a life-changer

Growing up on a horse-boarding farm in Johnstown, Ohio, just northeast of Columbus, Thomas Dyer, Bus ’26, fed horses, baled hay, and helped care for a group of alpacas that he adored. But deep down, he knew that he wanted to go to college and pursue his interest in technology and economics. After applying to several schools, he received an unexpected email from UC’s Lindner College of Business. The Honors Program was requesting a secondary screening interview.

UC Foundation Board of Trustees elects five new members

Gift supports local health care center while honoring siblings

Jude Schramm, Bus, ’97 and Kristen Schramm, Bus, ’96, grew up in neighboring southeast Ohio towns. They started dating in high school, but that was not their first connection. When Kristen’s brother, David Sutton, was born with Down syndrome, the pediatrician connected her mother with Jude’s. His nine-year-old sister, Erin Marie Schramm, also had Down syndrome.

Job stigma bringing you down? New research says to ‘shake it off’

The stereotypical employee may be at a desk in front of a computer screen working a nine-to-five, but for many employees, the work day is filled with manual labor, hazardous environments and late-night shifts. Your local garbage collector, for example, is someone with a job that society might consider “dirty,” both literally and socially. For so-called “dirty jobs,” the environment may be stressful, the stigma can be hard to ignore, but the work needs to get done to keep society functioning. Scott Dust, PhD, professor in the management department at the University of Cincinnati Carl H. Lindner College of Business, worked with doctoral candidates Sodiq Babatunde and Ben Fagan to analyze the impact of stress and stigma on well-being in certain careers.
