WLWT highlights Oscar winner’s connection to UC
Hannah Beachler, who studied fashion design at DAAP, won the Academy Award for her work on ‘Black Panther’
Hannah Beachler made history Sunday night as the first African American to win an Academy Award for Best Production Design for her work on the Marvel film “Black Panther.”
But before she brought the fictional land of Wakanda to life, Beachler studied fashion design at the University of Cincinnati’s College of Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning.
WLWT interviewed DAAP fashion design professor Injoo Kim, who taught Beachler during her UC days, about the Oscar winner. Read more.
Beachler has previously worked on films including the Oscar-winning “Moonlight” and the Cincinnati-shot “Miles Ahead,” as well as Beyoncé’s visual album, “Lemonade.”
