August Undergraduate Engineer of the Month epitomizes resilience and dedication
August Engineer of the Month, Karlie Clark (Civil Engineering '20)
University of Cincinnati civil engineering student Karlie Clark has been named the College of Engineering and Applied Science’s Undergraduate Engineer of the Month for August.
A transfer from the University of Texas-San Antonio, Clark came to UC after she and her husband were stationed at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base three years ago. She made the transition well in the classroom and has taken advantage of UC’s cooperative education program that gives students substantial, paid experience in industry.
"(The new Lindner College of Business construction) was the first job that I worked on as a co-op. It's cool that I left my mark here on campus for the future," Clark said.
Clark overcame not just the transfer and relocation, but the loss of her father. She is resilient and dedicated, adding a passion for learning to that incredible mix to accomplish her goals.
"I know that I'm right for this field,” Clark said. “I know that I have a love for this field and that I'm good at it, but overall, I like that you leave your mark on the community that you live in."
