October Graduate Engineer of the Month making quadcopters safe for human transportation

Siddharth Sridhar, a Ph.D. student in aerospace engineering, earned the Graduate Engineer of the Month from the College of Engineering and Applied Science for October 2019.
Sridhar’s research focuses on developing algorithms for controlling a novel design of quadcopters called tilting rotor quadcopters. Such quadcopters could eventually be safe enough for human transportation because they would be able to tolerate propeller failure and drastic changes in wind.
Because of his dedication, hard work, and academic ability, Sridhar has already authored or co-authored six papers for the leading international conferences, including the Proceedings of the 2019 American Control Conference, one of the most reputed and selective conferences in the field of controls.
Sridhar has also proved to be great educator. He is the recipient of the NSF Cincinnati Engineering Enhanced Mathematics & Science Scholarship for his work with secondary teachers to help them develop curricular units that integrate challenge-based learning and the engineering design process.
He has been involved with NSF Research Experience for Teachers program where he has worked local K-12 teachers. He has also served as teaching assistant for several classes. His is a natural teacher who can convey complicated concepts in very understandable terms.
Sridhar is also active on campus, currently serving as the president of the Graduate Student Governance Association (GSGA). He has previously as the treasurer of the GSGA.
