The Indianapolis Star: Meet Emmaline
UC alum is a retro jazz singer with a social-media success story
Finding modern success by singing retro jazz isn’t a sure bet, but University of Cincinnati alumna Emmaline is building an impressive resume.
The mononymous singer, who attended UC's College-Conservatory of Music, appeared in a Postmodern Jukebox video last year, supplied guest vocals on Bootsy Collins’ recent cover of “Monster Mash” and she will share a New Jersey concert bill with Chaka Khan this month.
A story in the Indianapolis Star points out that social media has been a crucial tool for Emmaline. She records music videos evocative of the 1950s with guitarist Ryan Mondak, and the duo boasts an online audience of 160,000 Instagram followers, more than 150,000 Facebook followers and 36,000 YouTube subscribers.
