ABC News: UC expert helps develop hearing protection for military dogs

Dr. Pete Scheifele of the College of Allied Health Sciences is partnering with Zeteo Tech, Inc. to develop the Canine Auditory Protection System (CAPS) to prevent short-term hearing loss in military working dogs. The system uses lightweight acoustic materials that absorb and block unwanted sounds.
The project was reported on by ABC News, Markets Insider and the Army Research Laboratory.
Dr. Scheifele is the executive director of FETCHLAB USA, an internationally renowned animal hearing and bioacoustics laboratory, housed at UC. It is the first and only hearing clinic for animals in the United States capable of running full audiological diagnostic testing and analyses.
