WCPO: HEALing Communities Grant

UC's Jennifer Brown discusses how this grant will help fight addiction in Hamilton County

Hamilton County has been chosen to be one of more than a dozen Ohio counties participating in a $350 million federal study, co-led by researchers at the University of Cincinnati, that aims to target the nationwide opioid epidemic.

The study will look at current addiction intervention techniques and policies.

"To qualify, unfortunately, you had to have a high rate of overdose fatalities within the state and within the county," said Jennifer Brown, an associate professor at the University of Cincinnati and co-principal investigator on the study. "Unfortunately, the numbers were high enough for Hamilton County to qualify."
