Anonymous donor continues to change lives at UC Blue Ash

An anonymous donor continues to generate a lot of smiles with yet another generous gift to the dental hygiene program at the University of Cincinnati Blue Ash College. 

The most recent donation, which totals $253,185, pays for a variety of upgrades to the technology and dental care instruments used by students in the dental hygiene program. It also ultimately supports the priorities of UC and UC Health’s comprehensive fundraising effort, Next, Now: The Campaign for Cincinnati. 

This is the seventh time since 2012 that the same donor has anonymously provided a significant gift designated for the dental hygiene program. The total amount for these donations is now more than $1 million. 

“The long-term support of this anonymous donor is extraordinary,” UC President Neville Pinto said. “This recent gift empowers our students by giving them access to the advanced equipment they will use in their future careers, allowing them to make an early impact in their field.” 

The financial support from the donor has covered everything from a scholarship fund for dental hygiene students to renovations and new technology for the Dental Hygiene Clinic. Those clinic updates include new ergonomically correct dental chairs that are more accessible for patients, computers at each of the 34 stations, and digital x-ray equipment that is similar to what you find in the most advanced dentist offices. 

“We are very grateful for this incredible generosity,” UC Blue Ash Dean Robin Lightner said. “These gifts are a testament to the excellent work by the students, faculty and staff in our program over the past several years. The donations are truly transforming the lives of our students and they help us continue to enhance one of the premier dental hygiene programs in the Midwest.” 

The dental hygiene program at UC Blue Ash is the largest in Ohio. It has an excellent reputation that is built on rigorous academics, the large number of graduates who go on to successful careers, and the state-of-the-art equipment and instruments that are available for students as they develop their skills. 

“We have the most up-to-date computers and software, the most up-to-date radiology equipment and teaching equipment for the clinical setting,” says Biz McClure, dental hygiene program director. “These donations increase the quality of the instruction our students receive and help us prepare them better than ever for a successful career in the dental hygiene field.” 

The scholarship fund created by the anonymous donor provides nearly $150,000 for students in the dental hygiene program. McClure notes that this fund also provides important financial support for new graduates as they take their national and state licensing exams, which can total nearly $2,000. 

College leaders may not know the identity of the anonymous donor, but they truly appreciate their generosity and the affection they have for UC Blue Ash.Replace with your text
