MSN: UC-led clinical trials for COVID-19
UC, UC Health expand efforts to find treatments for COVID-19 through clinical trials
University of Cincinnati and UC Health researchers and doctors are expanding clinical trials rapidly, hoping to pave the path to test vaccines against COVID-19.
Doctors said as many as 30 clinical trials are under consideration.
"I'd be shocked if we don't have a major contribution to make here for the national and international community," says Dr. Brett Kissela, Albert Barnes Voorheis chair and professor of the UC Department of Neurology and Rehabilitation Medicine, senior associate dean for clinical research at the UC College of Medicine and UC Health physician.

Physician scientists are also anticipating the need for new treatments as Ohio reopens businesses; they are expecting more people will enroll in clinical trials as the state moves forward.
"We will have our study teams ready to enroll, but we hope that there are fewer people for us to enroll, because we don't want anybody to be sick," says Dr. Carl Fichtenbaum, professor in the Division of Infectious Diseases at the UC College of Medicine and a UC Health physician.
