President Pinto's Statement: In Remembrance of Samuel DuBose
“This weekend is a solemn reminder of a gaping scar on the university’s history – the senseless killing of Samuel DuBose five years ago on July 19 by a former University of Cincinnati police officer. I want the DuBose family, in addition to our campus community, to know that we will never forget his tragic death and the pain and suffering it has caused. As we reckon with our past, we will be relentless in helping our society to eradicate racism and eliminate police brutality. To further advance our UCPD reform agenda, we will ensure that policies and practices reinforce a culture of accountability, transparency and continuous improvement. And we will say Samuel’s name as an enduring reminder that our work is not finished.”
