Student educator to serve on national COVID committee
Claire Keum selected to participate in American College Health Association initiative
Student Wellness Center (SWC) peer educator and third-year medical sciences major Claire Keum has been selected to particiate in the American College Health Association's Campus COVID-19 Vaccine Initiative.
The project addresses COVID-19 vaccine hesitancy, visibility and misinformation in college communities. "I'm excited to be part of this committee, because I'm passionate about health equity," said Keum, who will serve on the Student Engagement Committee. The committee focuses on idea sharing, content review and feedback on student engagement tools. She will also mentor other college students in the implementation of engagement strategies at their home campus.
"Claire has been a leader in the SWC all year working to educate students on COVID-19 and, more recently, vaccines," said assistant director Lori Bishop-Ley. "Now she will be able to have an influence on a larger scale and positively impact college students across the nation and beyond."
In addition to her work in the SWC, Keum is a Darwin T. Turner Scholar, in the University Honors Program and currently serves as a contact tracer for UC's COVID Check Response Team.
