UC political analyst and researcher Brian Calfano calls the recent passage of the inflation Reduction Act a down payment on our future but notes more grid technology is needed to help ease dependence on fossil fuels.

“It’s really going to come down to the private sector and to the American public to make this work. You have politicians doing what they can do with the political realities of a polarized country, says Calfano, a professor in the UC School of Public and International Affairs.

Calfano told Fox46, QueenCityNews, he thinks the law is “the best we’re going to have in terms of legislation, in terms of public investment, for a while.”

UC’s School of Public and International Affairs was created out of the former Department of Political Science, which dates to 1914. Experts from the school are regularly cited in national and international media outlets.
