Law lecture to focus on human rights after Nigeria’s civil war

Nigerian human rights scholar and activist Chidi Anselm Odinkalu will present the lecture “Reclaiming Dignity: Atrocity Violence, Governance, and Human Rights Half a Century After Nigeria’s Civil War” 5:00 pm, Thursday, Nov. 3 in Room 235 of the College of Law. Odinkalu’s visit and lecture is hosted by the Urban Morgan Institute for Human Rights.

Odinkalu is Professor of Practice in Human Rights Law, Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University. He also leads the Truth, Justice, and Peace Commission into ongoing violence in the states of southeast Nigeria. Currently, he is chair of the Governing Board of Global Rights and of the International Refugee Rights Initiative. Odinkalu previously chaired Nigeria’s National Human Rights Commission and directed the work of the Open Society Justice Initiative in Africa. He received his PhD in Law from the London School of Economics and Political Science.

UC Board votes to fund design for YMCA renovation
