Venture Lab: Jump into entrepreneurship
Ever thought of yourself as a potential entrepreneur? If you’ve got a good idea in mind, why not? That’s the mindset fostered at UC’s Venture Lab, a startup accelerator on 1819’s second floor that helps students bring their small business dreams to life.
You’ll receive personalized training from seasoned professionals when you join the students-only Venture Lab NEXT cohort. The program provides Bearcats with peer-to-peer learning, offers funding to promising startup ventures and helps you engage with venture capitalists and angel investors.

UC students should also consider the Venture Lab Digital Pre-Accelerator, an online course that equips startup founders – students and nonstudents alike – with the skills to successfully launch and scale an idea. Completion of this online training is required to register for the Venture Lab Accelerator, an advanced, in-person course for serious-minded entrepreneurs.
The 1819 Venture Lab partners closely with UC’s Center for Entrepreneurship to advance student-run businesses. In partnership with the Carl H. Lindner College of Business, the Venture Lab promotes student-led entrepreneurial endeavors via the Bearcat Launchpad accelerator, events like the Innovation Challenge and student organizations like Bearcat Ventures, Net Impact UC and Women in Entrepreneurship.

Protecting your intellectual property sounds daunting, and to be honest, it can be. But Tech Transfer will help you navigate the process. Its team of IP experts, based on the fourth floor of the 1819 Innovation Hub, has brought hundreds of ideas to market.
In the last five years alone, UC’s Tech Transfer team has received 77 invention disclosures from undergraduates like you. While that’s an impressive number, it also reveals just how much student innovation hasn’t been recognized or protected.
Be part of the evolution by contacting Tech Transfer if you’ve got an idea that’s novel, nonobvious and useful. UC’s office can support you in pursuing patents, copyrights, trademarks and trade secrets. Swing by the 1819 Innovation Hub to see how Tech Transfer can transform ideas into inventions.
