Unique therapy helps patient beat prostate cancer

Focal therapy, a treatment unique to the region and only offered at UC, helped Richard Weiss, 72, overcome prostate cancer with minimal side effects.

A diagnosis with prostate cancer was something Dick Weiss, 72, was not anticipating in May 2017, after his prostate-specific antigen (PSA) test came back higher than normal. After finding his way to a support group in Blue Ash for men with prostate cancer, he encountered experts from the University of Cincinnati Cancer Institute who were offering unique procedures, not offered elsewhere in the Tristate, to treat this type of cancer.
