Experiential Explorations Programs (EEP)

The Experiential Explorations Program (EEP) offers an alternative to paid required co-op positions, empowering you to gain diverse professional experiences, build skills, and prepare for your future career. Designed to complement the mandatory co-op program, EEP allows you to collaborate with faculty and industry mentors to create a personalized, hands-on learning experience.

EEP offers four distinct pathways to align with your career goals and interests. Each option is designed in collaboration with CCPS faculty and requires active participation to earn co-op credit.

  • Emerging Professional EEP:
Perfect for students seeking to sharpen professional and technical skills. Work with a faculty member and a mentor in your field to design a semester-long experience. Engage in upskilling activities, project-based work, or part-time roles to boost your readiness for future co-ops or careers.
Best for: Students needing extra professional development.

  • Professional Practice EEP:
Replace one co-op semester with a student-initiated project or exploration. Work on discipline-related projects, dive into specific concepts, or develop skills outside the traditional co-op structure. Collaborate with CCPS faculty to create a customized plan that aligns with your academic and career goals.
Best for: Independent learners eager to explore creative or specialized projects.

  • Entrepreneurship EEP:
Turn your big idea into reality! Substitute a co-op semester with an entrepreneurial project, from concept development to testing and launch. Meet with your co-op advisor 6–9 months in advance to plan and ensure prerequisites are met. If you’re still refining your idea, consider the Professional Practice EEP for incubation.
Best for: Aspiring entrepreneurs with a vision to build something new.

  • Career-Related Travel Semester EEP: Combine travel with career growth by substituting a co-op semester with a career-focused travel experience. Explore industries, cultures, or professional practices in a new setting while earning co-op credit. Best for: Students passionate about global perspectives and career exploration.

Key EEP Guidelines

  • Eligibility: You must meet co-op eligibility requirements outlined in your program’s co-op handbook (DAAP, CEAS, IT).
  • One-Time Use: Students may participate in one EEP semester. A second EEP requires approval from the Professional Standards Review Committee (PSRC).
  • Study Abroad Option: Mandatory co-op students can also pursue Study Abroad or Worldwide Independent Experiences.

How to Succeed in EEP

  • Plan Ahead: If accepted into EEP, you’ll work with your Faculty Co-op Advisor to create a detailed plan tailored to your chosen EEP type. This plan must meet specific requirements outlined in the co-op handbook.
  • Stay on Track: Complete all assignments, meet deadlines, and follow your approved EEP plan. Unapproved changes or failure to complete requirements may result in a failing grade.
  • Document Your Work: Submit evidence of deliverables (e.g., project outcomes, time sheets) to earn credit. Faculty will evaluate your EEP term based on your documentation.
  • Stay in Touch: Notify your faculty co-op advisor immediately if changes to your plan are needed.

Not sure if EEP is right for you?

Schedule time to meet with your Faculty Co-op Advisor to discuss EEP and if it's the right fit for you.
