Mikhail Nikolaenko, a Computer Science major in the College of Engineering and Applied Science, recently completed an international co-op in Chiba, Japan. During this experience, he worked for KisuiTech (輝翠Tech), a company that specializes in agricultural robotics and technology solutions for the farming industry. Reflecting on his time in Japan, Mikhail shared, "Participating in this program was truly life-changing. I gained a deep appreciation for Japanese culture, its people, traditions, food, and daily life. Living and working abroad helped me grow both personally and professionally, pushing me out of my comfort zone and expanding my worldview. I deeply miss the friends I made and am already planning my return after graduation, with hopes of living there long-term."

Liam Brown, a computer science student at the College of Engineering and Applied Science, engaged in an International Co-op Experience at the German Aerospace Center (DLR) in Braunschweig, Germany. Reflecting on his transformative journey, he shared, “My time abroad was really life changing, and it was really the most interesting time in my life. It forced me far out of my comfort zone, to be independent in a foreign land, it made me rise to the challenge and grow tremendously. I can't recommend studying abroad more, if you have the slightest interest, and any opportunity to participate, absolutely do so.”

Nick Bardash, a Mechanical Engineering student at the College of Engineering and Applied Science, engaged in an enriching International Co-op Experience with Safran Landing Systems in Paris, France. Reflecting on his journey, he shared,”Adjusting to an entirely different culture and environment was the most rewarding experience of my life. It taught me a lot about myself and the world around me, making me more independent person and eager to make the most of every moment. Experiencing life through the eyes of another culture really opened me up to new perspectives and ways of seeing the world.”

Kati Allen, a dedicated Environmental Engineering student from the College of Engineering and Applied Science, embarked on an enriching International Co-op Experience with ITP Aero in Bilbao, Spain. Reflecting on her six-month journey, she shares: “I spent six months in Bilbao, Spain working for ITP Aero, a company who engineers and manufactures parts of engines for aircrafts. I worked in their environmental department in waste management and decarbonization projects. I was able to improve my Spanish skills while being fully immersed in a cross-cultural environment. I learned more about a different area in my field and gained more experience to know what I should do for my future in the industry.”
